I have a 2000 FXDWG and want Tranny Oil recommendations. The nearest certified Harley maintenance technician is 95 miles away. I have watched videos on changing tranny oil, and it seems I need a 5/8 inch Allen wrench. Any suggestions?

how can I tell if my clutch is slipping? I have a 2000 Fatboy.

thank's for the help, you just saved me alot of scratch!

why are you watching this video if you are a harley davidson technician? i would think this shit would be pretty basic for you. oh and fuck harley davidson motorcycle company. harley's are the best in my opinion, but do you guys think that the harely davidson company gives a shit about anything but the money we give them? i think not. build your own bikes...

People have many opinions about oil. One will say don't use Spectro, the other says do. Another says don't use Mobile, the other does. HD oil did not cause your friends bike to blow up. You can use whatever oil you want. I'm just stating what the factory has told me....I go there for training twice a year. Keep doing your own work. I can tell your intelligence level as well as your professional level by the words you use. I'm glad I don't have customers like you.

use lucas 20w50 oil it has been proven over and over in test after test to be the best oil available.
harley oil consistently test at or near the bottom.
harley has an interest in your buying a new motor just after the wnty is over

It's nice to know how to fill the clutch oil but how do I drain it to do a clutch oil change ?
You can use the head of a hex bolt with the same dimensions, double nut the threaded side and use it as an allen. That should work in a pinch.

If your RPMs are going up without that power transferring to the back tire you could have a slipping clutch issue. This will usually come from a bad clutch adjustment or severely worn clutch plates.

what type of oil do u use to fill the primary and if i am getting a clunk everytime i shift gears is this a sign of being low on primary fluid this is my firsy harley o5 supergide or is it normal for a harley..

You will want to use Screamin Eagle synthetic oil. It is normal for a Harley transmission to sound clunky compared to other motorcycles. If you don't use the correct amount of transmission oil you can blow out your trans seals. Our Softail/Dyna Glide maintenance video will show you how to do it correctly.
