'08 Nissan Altima 2.5 S at governor-limited top speed

The speed rating on the stock tires require that a 112 mph speed limiter be used.

I double checked the speed rating on the tires, and they are T rated as opposed to S rated - meaning they should be good to 118 mph. Why I'm stuck at 112 or 113, I do not know. Thoughts, anyone? I was thinking of maybe putting it the transmission in manual mode if I run it up that high again, see if it goes any faster.

Hey guys, sorry I haven't checked the comments recently.

To answer everyone's questions...I live in Alabama. Yes, the car is equipped with the CVT transmission, and this run was made with the transmission in drive, and not the manumatic shift mode.

I'm pretty sure my particular tires are S rated, and judging by the chart offered on Tire Rack's website, that would be a speed rating of 112. I'll double check the tires.

@occckid123 No.. that's not it.. i had 1/3 max.... i remember it almost weighed 4,000 pounds when i packed it with all my stuff.. about 700 pounds of stuff.

@nasirkhalid7 nope your wrong i have a 09 3.5se coupe with the bullydog gt and still shuts off at 125 bullydog told me they are working on fixing it its not the motor that is govn its the cvt that has the govn

@deckan315 true but isnt the altima already the lightest? it probably weighs as much as a cruze which is a class smaller...

@occckid123 well it's pretty close... i weighed my car before i got out of the army because they actually pay you to move your own belongings and it was high 3200's.. I don't remember exactly as this was late 2008, but dude, anything over 3,000lbs on a 4-cylinder is too much weight...

@lrossi888 I could be wrong, but seems that the new headlights would increase drag. besides that i think that the other major changes were the hood design and lighter/bigger wheels. .i really hate how they added pinstripes on the sides.. I will tell you this though, the sound system is crisp for a stock one. hook up an ipod to really push those speakers, I was impressed. I heard somewhere that they made a deal with clarion... who know's...
