PLEASE READ THE BELOW FAQ.

How do I get Xcode?
You should already have it, if you have a mac.

How do I create an iPhone OS Project?
Download the iPhone SDK with a google search.

iPhone OS still does not appear?
Update your mac, and retry.

Do I need a mac to do this?
Yes.

Can I develop iPhone applications otherwise?
Yes, but you cannot publish them to the app store. Just google "Windows iPhone Toolchain." It is very difficult.

Is there an easier way?
Yes, OSx86. PM me.

In this tutorial, I will be showing you how to make a simple Hello World app for the iPhone/iPod Touch in Xcode 3.1. This app contains a button and a label, and shows how to link actions and outlets.

  • There is no such thing as a proper tutorial with music playing instead of vocal instructions.

  • @Markanthony32102009 ever heard of books?

  • Dude I think this is the best helloWorld video I have seen, serious, Every other video has a geek (self professed geek here) going on and on about the details of each function the difference between functions and methods etc. I just want to build a damn hello world app and figure out where to go from there. I like the no music and no explaining and very little backtracking. It's the first iphone app I was able to write without an exception fault. Great job Guy!

  • thanks :) i basically made this video because i didn't want new coders to go through the same stuff i had to, it's a very very steep learning curve so this is kind of a kickstart

  • I vote this the most irritating background music on youtube. Don't bother.

  • just mute it haha, sorry it was a little loud, i just needed a song that was the same length as the video

  • @psychofish25 Since when do books play music?

  • how does XCode know that 'myLabel' refers to the label you put on the interface?

  • There's a small problem with your FAQ: Xcode does not come with your Mac. You have to download it from the developer section of Apple's website.

  • Okay, so when I am in interface builder the first thing that goes wrong is that I cannot make a new outlet like on 3:59. Then I can add the outlet "label" to the text box, but when I go to add the outlet to the button the only option that comes up is "view" which comes up as a referencing outlet. Any help please?

  • @psychofish25 ever heard of stfu?

  • im trying to make a button on xcode and im having a really hard time. Im trying to get the button to go to a diffrent place in the app. i would really like it if you helped. we have been having a hard time with it for months so it would really help. Thanks

  • When i choose an new project i can only choose between Cocoa touch application, Cocoa touch list and Cocoa touch bar. Why?!

  • Thank you!

  • @psychofish25 no cause we need to know what you are doing while your doing it or its not a tut smart one
