  • utter shitboxes that rusted like fuck, leaked like a fuckn sieve and pissed oil all over the fuckin place, thank fuck theres virtually none o them left, fuckn abortion of an excuse of a car, if i see one kicking about i key it too fuck

  • Either you have never owned one, or you did and don't know how to look after a car, then. And that comment says a lot about your attitude and respect for other people. What a thoroughly nice bloke, eh.

  • I think this is one of most ugly looking cars ever mass produced yuck I should know I had one a B reg 1985 1.3L lol

  • Well if that's what you think, why the hell did you buy one? I think that says more about you than the car... ;)

  • I have no idea how I ended up at this, but I loved it, first time I've heard the song too, brill! My brother had 2 Maestros from brand new in the 80's. I was more happy with my old Escort 1300 Sport!

  • I owned 4 in total and loved them all, spacious, frugal, nice to drive and cheap, the only thing that spoiled them wasn't build quality or reliability down (they were very reliable and no worse built than any vauxhall or ford) it was the metal that they were made from, everything used to rot, brake lines, fuel lines, floors, panels windsreen frames etc, this is what has killed most of them unfortunately...

  • "made" them

  • They didn't really, they stopped making them at rover in 1994, the ones you see are kits built up by a garage in Ledbury and registered as new, even though the cars themselves were actually 7 years olds by the time the last ones were registered!

  • Just Brought a 1998 Ledbury 1.3 Today,Pritty Good Car!!

  • maestro and montego were the most comfortable cars to drive ever,,,only let down by poor build quality

  • I have an Allegro VP but I Was really impressed when I had a ride in the back of a HLX the other week at Tatton park classic Car show ,Loads of room and I,m 6 foot and 17 stone,Great Car

  • I have a '93 Rover Maestro.

It's a shame it recieved such terrible reviews and gained a bad reputation. It was undeserved and suffered because of it's predecessor.

It's a brillian car and a wonderful little drive.

It never leaks oil and has done just 47,000 miles. And with regular oil changes using good quality oil it's 1.3 A-series engine will comfortably do a 100,000+ miles.

All the good-hearted stick I get for owning it, and yet it's more reliable than a modern day Mercedes.

It got terrible reviews and a rotten reputation, but it's nowhere near as bad as many imagine and is a terrific little drive.

  • I never knew that Masetros went all the way up to 51 reg!
