2010 Ford Mustang SHELBY GT500. Forty-six thousand dollars is way too much to pay for a Ford Mustang, right? Not if said Mustang is the 540-horsepower, performance-tuned range-topping Shelby GT500. In this video, KBBs Micah Muzio discusses the details of the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, an American automotive icon and performance-car bargain. • I thought the same until I drove the car. A lot of fun to drive it suits the car just fine!

  • do all you haters realize that an independent rear suspension robs power from getting to the tires? Not to mention that the suspension on this stang has been tuned so well that the only real noticeable difference IRS would make on it is a smoother ride over bumps and oh yea, the price!

  • the new 2011 gt500 doesn't have a gas guzzler tax and they added 10 more hp, and it wil probably be like that throughout the next couple of years

  • 14 people dont know a real american sports car when they see it

  • ...perhaps 'cos it can be washed/cleaned?

  • that and the crappy plastic interior are what makes it so cheap...

Americans only seem to want to go in a straight line anyway. give them a corner and they will freak out.

  • why would you drive such a car and get it dirty like they did in the vid

  • Yeah, but then what's the point in buying one? You can't brag about it being fast and good around corners, you can only brag about it being fast and affordable. That's not the point of the whole car. I just think Ford could have done it more justice.

I do pick the Mustang over the Camaro and Challenger, though.

  • and you got to give them credit for refining the solid rear axle. i don't know what kind of suspension setup the camaro and callenger have, but it handles better than them according to sources.

  • lol, probably got that from top gear. the're the only ones who used the term "ancient". + dude, this car is not meant to be a supercar or a freakin BMW M6. Ford wanted to make a car that was fast yet affordable, thus leaving the solid rear axle. if they wanted, they could make the using handling so much better if they wanted to with an independent suspension. think of the Ford GT as an example of their potential to make great cars.

  • MMhm I drove it too. It's rubbish. But it's more than the average buyer'll ever need, I suppose. Just a pity Ford skimped out an American Icon so they could make it cheaper and sell more.
