@adga140 The "Church building" is just that, a building. Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit is what the Bible teaches. No building is "God's house." God does not live in buildings, He lives in people. Please refer to my earlier post about legalism. As for music styles, they are a matter of personal taste and preference. Who gets to determinie what is "with reverence" and what is not? Are you the final authority? Your denomination? Your pastor? Such nonsense. BTW, the Church is people.

Ok....... The Martins are blowing my mind! Amazing!

@Bonniesparkle I agree 100% Styles of music do have meaning other than just personal taste and I believe God expects us to worship and lift him up with reverence and thats something that is missing today in music and in worship in general. I can remember my Grandfather calling me down, as a child, for running in the Church building, ANYWHERE in the Church building and he said this is God's house and you are to be reverent when you are in it.

the Martins are great but terrible arrangement.

@mjames1989 Judge not lest ye be judged has nothing to do with this. That said, I agree with your general position completely. It has long been legalistic, overbearing people like the one you replied to who have ruled over the music of the church. For centuries only certain scales were allowed, certain intervals between notes were not allowed and only certain rhythmic combinations were permissible. Such nonsense. So God can't be addressed and praised except on the beat? Really?

so deep... brings back the memories

Nobody doe acapella like the Martins! Love it. ....Rebecca

@Bonniesparkle How would God not be glorified by this? And is it really your job to decide if they really mean this? What happened to judge not lest ye be judged? and what have you done to lift someone up recently? They are out there praising and lifting God up in one of the most beautiful simple ways possible. With their talent they could do any style....but they sing ACAPELLA gospel songs.

Musically, this is outstanding! However, does the music really fit the words? The words of the first verse are addressing God himself. I would never pray to God using this type of syncopated rhythm. It is not reverent in my opinion. I wonder if they really mean those words as they sing this. If not, they are taking the name of the Lord in vain.
