David accepts his award for Outstanding Drama Performance.

David announces that he is leaving Doctor who, and his last apperances as the Doctor will be the specials in 2009, and will not be returning for the new series in 2010. From the National Television Awards on 29/10/2008

i am, i am definatly watching it, i mean with the return of gallifrey and the whole new doctor, its gonna be awesome.

plus, none of you knew who tennant was when he took the role, he was just a guy who was in harry potter 4, but now he's the doctor.

smith will soon be known as the guy everyone underestimated for 10 months, then he come into the show and onto the screens with a huge bang and in 7 years when he leaves, you will all say the same thing about the next one.

@rinrunner101 matt smith is actually a very good doctor, different but still very good. he makes some mistakes with the tardis as the doc but so did christopher eccleston as the doctor when he brought rose home 12 months instead of 12 minutes in season 1 lol.

Ok people it is sad that David Tennant is leaving but he chose to anyway the way i see it the people that become doctor that nobody really knows are the ones who last forever when christopher left i was like God this fool is gonna suck but i liked david tennant so i bet matt smith will be just as good

that dosn't mean he never existed in the point of view of the other doctors. they even keeps saying. "One of us is trapped."

It is also stated very specifically in the episode. "Deadly assasain." 12 times. And "Underworld."

But as I said, no thing has been stated in the new series, where the writers tends to make new rules for them self, And I think the question of limited regeneration is avoided for very concious and obvious reasons.

Of cause he is going to regenerate more than 12 times
