This is great for software and is one of the 'good' things about Google. It also gets the software out to the public faster. I don't think it works as well with hardware like printers etc, shipping with buggy or half baked drivers is very annoying to users. Of course nowadays hardware companies say go to our website for the 'current' update in the install guide.
