Solution- We have the Technology - Energy Union 2009- Coldcut -v1

'We have the Technology' shows that we already have the solutions needed to move from Old Power to Intelligent Energy: clean, renewable Energy from the Elements of Sun, Earth, Water and Air can be gathered using existing technology like Solar cells, Solar towers, geothermal, tidal generators, wave machines (check out the awesome Red Snake), and Wind turbines. These devices work NOW, and with more effort could be even more efficient. Why burn oil when Earth receives 15,000 times more energy from the Sun than we use every day. And there is no need for nuclear powerstations with their attendant waste, risks and astronomical costs...Geothermal energy is energy directly from the Earth, powered by natural nuclear processes in the core! Etc. There is no Energy shortage...only an Energy CONSCIOUSNESS shortage. Let's wake up , implement the solutions at hand, and develop even better ones. It's Time.

can you make plastics from solar energy? roads maybe? without oil there wouldn't be any 'solar' to go with in the 1st place

i completely agree! the reason energy like this isnt being promoted as much is because the greedy powers that be prefer us to rely on nuclear etc energy because that puts money into their greedy pockets...I remember seeing a woman cooking with solar energy in my town, in nigeria...it was nothing special, just a massive metal type of wok that was stood up facing the sun and attached to it on the bottom was a cooking pot. this was in the mid 90s..why cant we use energy like that instead? Crazy...

Why don't we stop burning oil? I can take a guess;

1) It would cost precious money in order to change the assorted infrastructure needed to move 100% to renewable energy - and heaven forbid SPENDING some of the £300 they make off everyone who owns a car on a near-weekly basis.

2) The people at the top of the current energy providers have been there for a very long time, and are too set in their ways to risk their precious investments or time switching to a cleaner fuel source.

Just a guess :p
