OK, didn't realize you were a Brit gurl, I humbly add the incredible Dusty Springfield (or Joss Stone, if you must) to your study list, then! Always acknowledge, singing, music itself, is about the melodies that erupt from your heart, soul, your very being (however subtle) -------not just from your mouth! Remember, it is the musician, not the instrument, that creates musical greatness, right? :)

Great display of abilities, Kaz! I admire your voice and its vast potential. But, ya wanna grow into your gorgeous voice? Listen... you project far too much vocal air into your nasal cavity, which both diminishes its richness and compromises your tonal agility. Google head tone vs. chest tone for more. You need to study Karen Carpenter, not for range, she's an alto - you're clearly not - but for tone placement. Minnie Riperton, Aretha, even Janice would do you well for some soul play too!
