Saw this guy last night in Bury St Edmunds (06/09/2011) with the Animals. He spoilt a good night (the Animals) with his self indulgent ramblings about a long gone past and dreadful singing voice. maybe he didn't see the audience leaving during the performance, but he bored us to tears. He may be a good guitarist and written some good songs and tunes in the past but it's over now, so he should put his slippers on and leave the new talent to get on with it.
@scottschinder i'm gonna stick up for the singer here. OK - he's not Eric Burdon, and he isn't doing a lousy job of aping him. he's not trying to be him, because there is already an Eric Burdon who is one of a kind. he sings the Animals songs the way he wants to sing them, it's his style of singing. let him do it.
No, it's the current UK version of the Animals. Drummer John Steel is the only original member. Steel is a fine, underrated drummer, but the idea of this band calling itself the Animals is more than a little questionable. Still, I have to admit that they sound pretty good in this clip--maybe because it's an instrumental so the singer isn't doing his usual lousy job of aping Eric Burdon.
This one is special! i got a chance to see the Animals a few times in the 80's and they were Fantastic! Eric Burden is also one of the nicest men I have met.
Man! is this the "former animals? lIKE HILTON VALENTINE, CHAS. Chandler(tHE gUY WHO bROUGHT Jimi Hendrix iNTO THE mUSIC bUSINESS), STEVE POWELL,AND BRUCE McCANDLESS, Who RECORDED on THE EPIC Label w/ the Great ERIC BURDON?!
@rockerstar101 well said especially as Eric has forgotten his home country and Pete Barton is a great singer as well as a great guy
