[Lyrics]

A silent river flowing black
Strange attractors, no turning back
Present danger I recall
That pins my senses to the wall

Back from the edge
Where the darkness has fled
And I'm swimming in light
And I'm falling...
Falling from the edge
Back from the edge

I fell from grace, and that's a fact
I still have urges, I fight back
Cold decisions wear me thin
Kill yourself, begin again

Back from the edge
Where you're not worth a damn
Throw yourself into light
And the rush as you spin from the edge...
Back from the edge
Back from the edge
Back from the edge

Now and then I wonder where
The faces from my childhood have gone
Like father, like son
In your bones it lives on
Glowing shadows

Back from the edge
(back from the edge)
Back from the edge
(back from the edge)
Back from the edge
(back from the edge)
Back from the edge
(back from the edge)

''Back From The Edge'' is a song from Bruce Dickinson's solo album, Skunkworks, released in 1996.

Bruce Dickinson interview 1996: "Skunkworks". It's named after the Lockheed Advance Development Corporation that build all these spy planes and amazing pieces of technology in America. And they are called the Lockheed Skunkworks. So we thought...hhmm..if we can make records as they make aeroplanes...he he he!''

Skunkworks is a hard rock album released in 1996 (see 1996 in music) by Bruce Dickinson.
Originally, Bruce intended for Skunkworks to be the debut album of a band by the same name. However, the label would not publish the record under any other name than Bruce Dickinson. The album sounds quite different from Bruce's other solo works. Most songs in this album have the central theme being science and/or related themes. Furthermore, the songs are relatively short, with most running around 3 minutes. The band didn't last and for his next solo project, Accident of Birth, he teamed up with guitarist Roy Z. • SKunkworks was awesome i really enjoyed it.

  • Skunkworks is one of the best albums ever created. HIGHLY Underrated album.. It really deserved more touring and media exposure. Bruce should tour with them again, but this time around the world.

  • i love skunkworks. one of the world's most underrated albums. and this song owns. i hope he goes on tour with his solo band again. i never got to see him. :/

and it's not maiden's last tour, by the way. not even close.

  • what is this from? its awesome

  • @Ancutzamica1 I take it lots of people have asked you on account of how it was all caps?

  • *SkunKwoks, I mean.

  • Best song from Skunworks album with Strange Death In Paradise and Inertia. Chorus is amazing... Bruce sounds much better than in Maiden's 2003 tours... I think he is more relax with his own tours than in Maiden tours...

I hope that Bruce will do new album after new maiden album (last one?) and tour... And maybe he can do a little summer tour, before Maiden's massive last(?)-tour (the tour is maybe in 2013, like Bruce said in early summer).

  • the energy this music blasts is enough to light a whole block. top 3 performances i seen of him all times
