How not to fall victim to unscrupulous tire companies who will gladly sell you old tires which are outdated and dangerous! Here's how to decipher the DOT Date of manufacture code on any tire before you buy. You should also check the tire dates on your families vehicles to make sure they are no more than 6 years old.

    No Problem! Thanks for watching!

  • Thank you, shilohfeed, for recording and posting this. i am going to repost it onto my Facebook account. I'm going to get new tires today and remembered the 20-20 segment and thought I'd look the subject up and remind me of how to tell when the tires were manufactured.

  • I just watched the 20/20 episode you spoke of.I cannot believe the government has not done anything to stop the sale of expired tires! The DANGER of the driver and passengers with old tires,AND ALL OF US DRIVEING NEXT TO AND IN BACK OF THEM ARE ALSO INDANGERED IF THE TIRES TREAD STARTS TO PEEL AWAY OR TIRE EXPLODE.Thank you for letting people know of this.PEOPLE,CHECK YOUR TIRE'S,to do this you need to go a lil under the car cuz the code is on the inside of the tire, not faceing out.
