Does going with a cloud represent vendor lock-in? Jason Hoffman says that at Joyent we have created an open "loving cloud". Google claims App Engine is open. Jason explains why it isn't.

Excellent point. There are different definitions of open.
Well documented API's doesn't really fit any of them.
