"This album is full of hope. My core philosophy about the nature and importance of art is in "Icarus Ascending,' and 'Earth Anthem' represents the nature of my own being to protect and preserve and love nature. I still want to make sure people are reminded they have a sacred duty as the human species to be caretakers of this planet.

"Bill Martin wrote this in the mid-60s. It is one of the first environmental songs I can remember. It was on a Turtles album. Howard (Kaylan) and Mark (Volman) (of the Turtles) did this song with the Turtles in 65-66, on an album called 'Battle of the Bands,' in which the Turtles did songs as different bands. Mark Volman used to be a neighbor of mine when I lived up in Laurel Canyon in L.A.

"I've sung this Bill Martin song at political rallies through the years. I did it at the 'No Nukes' concert in Washington, D.C., in 1980, on the Capitol steps. It's a very inspirational song."

*Rex Rutkowski is a veteran Pittsburgh, Pa. based writer who has been covering music since 1971. His material has appeared in publications throughout the world.

My great adoration and love of this marvelous star bounding about the universe is heightened as well as hallowed with the vibration of its beauty and in the wonder of this song Dan gave to us. Oh, Bill, I'm sorry. I in no!! way meant to bring down your fantastic visuals & Dan's singing of Mother Earth. It just made me think of all that is going on here.The lives lost are heartbreaking, of course. But this is our home, and, on an optimistical note, we will! eventually be evergreen again.

Thank you again for this. It's lovely. I will cherish it, and be back again to look and listen.

You've done it again!! This is absolutely beautiful, and that word doesn't even come close to describing it...breath taking. I remember when I went to the Wild Places concert in Nashville, TN. A lot of the songs were new to me at the time and I was completely blown away. Didn't think I would have that reaction again, but I did to this,(I'm talking about Earth Anthem). Beautiful, you always seem to capture the moments and make us think about reality surrounding us. To be one as a Nation, but to also be praying for other countries and Nations in termoil. Tragedy surrounds us daily so with much hope and prayers while were here, can and will make a change if we all join in. Amen...

We have a very angry planet right now for sure: earthquakes~hurricanes~tornado­es, flooding.These are people that these things happened to; some buried under cement for days B 4 being found alive (I think I'd go insane being trapped like that), some swept out to sea, one young man who had just graduated from high school pulled out of his vehicle & into the twister while his family watched in shock never to be seen again~the MS River rising ruining homes, farmer's crops.....

Oh Bill. Simply beautiful video. Dan's amazing voice once again sharing himself w/ith us & the man he grew into~he cared about so many important things & made it known, shared his thoughts of these matters w/ us thru his amazing voice.I believe if he were here npw he'd be helping in some way w/Old Tennessee The Mississippi River has grown from a peaceful place to watch a sunset into a monster flooding many states, along w/being pounded in the south w/tornadoes.............
