Yeah i agree 100%..It's a little easier for harness racing announcers to tell the drivers cause they always were the same uniform..That's gotta make it a bit easier...
... you're very welcome! All the very best to you for the future, you are and will do well !
I have always been amazed at how track announcers can remember the names of the horses, jockeys' and drivers' silk colours, time fractions, the whole bit. It is a lot to know, race after race. My hat goes off to all of you.
Thank you, cheeriosinabowl! I do call quite a few races these days, and I have a lot of fun doing it. You are right, it is not easy, but the more I do it, the better I get and the more I enjoy it. I do most of my announcing at Rideau Carleton, as I live in Ottawa, and track announcer Norm Borg has been generous in giving me announcing opportunities. I did announce at Woodbine once, though. That was a thrill! I also announce at other Ontario tracks. Thanks again for your kind words!
... that was very good! You have a nice CLEAR voice and that counts alot. Hope you call more races. Maybe one day you'll come to Woodbine or Mohawk? Announcing, it seems to me, would be a tough job .... you have to be accurate and you have to make it sound exciting. You did both! Congrats.
Thanks, PlaYah1979! That really was my first time. At least, it was my first time calling a race live for an audience (i.e. not counting all the times I called races into my tape recorder for fun while sitting in the grandstand). Thanks again for your compliments.
Thanks for your kind words, terjer01! It was a real thrill to go into the booth and call a race. If Grand River Raceway organizes this contest again next year, maybe you could give it a try!
In the meantime, enjoy the Breeders' Cup this weekend, and good luck!
