Tony T here from Gamblers Television covering the NFL "Vegas Style" all season long.

The Denver Broncos are coming off a disappointing 2007 season finishing 7-9 and missing the playoffs. Oddsmakers have set the Denver Broncos projected win total for the 2008 season at 7 1/2 wins.

Schedule:

Playing the AFC West the Broncos have 2 games each with Kansas City, Oakland and San Diego. The AFC West plays the AFC East and NFC South this season. They draw a break hosting Buffalo.

Offense:

Jay Cutler played with type 1 diabetes last season and didn't know it. He was diagnosed in the offseason and has begun taking insulin. Cutler has gained 25 pounds in the offseason and looked good in minicamps throwing the football. Cutler has a strong arm and is growing in the position. He was a top 10 passer in passing yards and yards per attempt in 2007. Brandon Marshall had a breakout season in 2007 and his 549 yards after the catch ranked him second in the league. Marshall is tough to take down. Brandon Stokely comes over from Indy and will play in the slot. Running back Selvin Young figures to get most of the carries entering the season. Rookie fifth round pick Ryan Torain out of Arizona St got some people talking. If Torrain has a good camp he will get carries this season. Torrain hits the hole hard and contributed in the passing game for the Sun Devils in 2007.

Defense:

Stopping the run will need definite improvement after the Broncos gave up an average of 143 yards per game and an average of 4.6 yards per rushing attempt in 2007. The tone has to be set in training camp. The Broncos will have 6 new starters on defense. The defensive line must do a better job of stuffing the run so their linebackers can make plays. The cornerback duo of Champ Bailey and Dre Bly are outstanding. They will be more effective this season, as the Broncos will do a better job of stopping the run. They will go to an 8 man front with new defensive coordinator Jim Slowik taking over. It will work since the Broncos two solid cover bookends at corner.

And now to my Selection:

After missing the post season in two straight seasons Mike Shanahan will feel great pressure to get this team contending for the post season. His track record has been excellent following losing seasons. Four of Shanahan's teams have produced losing seasons and in the following year have bounced back. The 4th easiest schedule will also help. The scheme on defense is much better and their player turnover is a positive change on defense. Play Denver over 7 ½ wins.

Play Denver Broncos Over 7 ½ wins for the 2008 season.

Selection: Play Denver Broncos Over 7 ½ wins in 2008 Regular Season.

  • the broncos will win more than 8 games, i can bet my life on it. I hate people who don't know anything about the Broncos and just look at last season and make there prediction about then. Look at the Broncos now they are much better and they have a better pass rush. They will have 10 wins this season, period.

  • And 2 make dis guy sound even dumber...

Mcree is a decent safety but will be much better since he doesnt have 2 do much since he will be helpin Bly or Champ. Not 2 mention he beat out John Lynch. Dont kno much about Manuel but I do kno dat Dominique Foxworth is sumthin special. Our D-Line has Ekuban which IS a sack specialist. Along wit Moss and Marcus Thomas who look pretty good n camp also.

  • @lovedog49507 We didn't get "rid" of Lynch. He retired as a Bronco because he wasn't going to play as much as he was the season before. And after he retired, the Denver defence shut down and took time to get back up on its feet...

  • They were .500 =P 8-8.

  • They went around .500, no?

  • Denver can't win shit with that dumbass QB.

  • 10+ wins for sure. The Chargers time has come and they will not even get a wild card spot. Cutler/Marshall=Best QB/WR team in 08/09. Eddie Royal=Rookie of the year.

  • As a long time (12+ years), bleed orange and blue Broncos fan I can tell you that regardless of who we just played in a lack luster Raider team, we are on our way back. You can see it in Cutler's swagger and in the eyes of the defense on the field. It is starting to look similar to the confidence we have had in the past winning seasons. After we beat San Diego at home tomorrow we will start to get these idiot football commentators talking respectfully about the Broncos again. Let's go Broncs

  • So if u have red these comments Ive posted and think 7 wins r possible even doe we had 7 wins wit alot of injured players dat r now healthy.

B stupid...but dont jump on board wen the Horse begins 2 gallop.

DENVER 4 LIFE....And no one can stop da CUTLER-MARSHALL CONNECTION BITCH!!!!!

  • Add on da MLB from Seattle (in which Seattle said was good enough 2 start but jus wasnt better than Tatupu). And Boss Bailey (who more than likely will play better seein dat he plays wit his older brother now). And u get a linebacker core dats pretty decent. Not 2 mention 1 dats above average n speed and evryone I named is versatile.
