This video was taken of 91 year-old Bud Moore on August 2, 2008 on the front porch of his cabin in the Swan Valley of western Montana. Bud's 80-acre Coyote Forest was the first conservation easement project for The Vital Ground Foundation. Bud retired from the U.S. Forest Service in the mid-1970's. In the mid-1990's, after years of research and writing, Bud published the epic "Lochsa Story", a book which explores the lessons drawn from two centuries of human interaction with northern Idaho's Lochsa country and how those lessons can affect management philosophies of similar regions across the continent and beyond. On this video you'll hear Bud talk about his relationship with Vital Ground and the importance of forest stewardship, both for the protection of wildlife species and jobs for locals.
