What makes a spiritual camp so inspiring?
Selecting a venue that is both serene and picturesque certainly helps.
Having activities that are both engaging and enjoyable definitely contributes.
And having attended and conducted workshops in the absence of an Acharya, there is no doubt that the upliftment and inspiration we all feel is entirely due to our Swami's presence.
But if Swamiji provides the inspiration, then it is us who receive, amplify and circulate it.
If Swamiji brings out the best in us, then we in turn bring out the best in each other.
It is that Yagna spirit that makes camp truly special: 90 like-minded individuals coming together, lifting ourselves and allowing ourselves to be lifted.
And in that atmosphere, a kind of spiritual alchemy takes place wherein the base lead of our human existence connects with something divine and becomes transformed.
Such magic cannot be captured on film.
But while re-entry into the world prompts us to slip back into imperfection, a photo, a line of text, a piece of music can be all that is required to ignite a thought or trigger a memory and we can, for a brief moment, reconnect with the magic we all felt in those 4 days we spent together at CHYK Camp 2008.
Beautiful!
