Bret Michaels, a 47-year old American signer who is best known as the lead vocalist of the glam metal band Poison, was rushed to intensive care late Thursday because of a severe headache.

Bret Michaels was then diagnosed with a brain hemorrhage or Subarachnoid hemorrhage - bleeding at the base of his brain stem, and is now in critical condition, his publicist was cited as saying Friday.

Mr. Michaels underwent an emergency appendectomy April 12 after complaining of stomach pains and he late said on his website that the surgery went well and he is recovering.

Does anybody else wonder if this even happened? Just read today on CNN he's already scheduling a tour date of late May, a month from now! Where are his doctors that were supposed to get on TV and inform us about Bret's condition. I hope if it is true he does recover, but wouldn't this near death experience be a chance for Bret to get off the stage and slow it down a bit?

@nesi674 - Seemingly unlike Bret here, I was smart enough not to become involved with cocaine. Being that I don't put cocaine in my nose the probability that I will have a "coke stroke" as some sort of Karmatic attack is non-existent. If the doctors really wanted to know what was the cause of Bret's sudden stroke they should perform a simple urination analysis for drugs. I would hedge my bets that old Bret was indulging in a bit of blow rather foolishly for a man his age.
