Welcome back zappers, Im Devin Curry with http://Shazap.com. Your online video source for comic book news and reviews. Follow me on Twitter at http://twitter.com/devincurry.

Like a lot of big event books it’s hard to really make any judgments after the first issue. One thing that did surprise me though, was that a lot of people died. Nightcrawler, beast, Wasp, maybe Johnny, Sue and Doctor Storm, and a lot of people all around the world. That is a big chance to take in a universe. I mean they killed off almost half of their characters. If the storms are really dead how can the fantastic four title really go on? It’s not the fantastic duo or “Stretcho and Thing” save the world. There will always be new X-Men to fill out the roster but those were a couple of very significant characters to kill off so non chelauntly. This is looking to be a big deal and the question of will how they are going to move forward with the ultimate universe is reason enough alone to stick with it. The art is great in this book and the image of Magneto witting on his thrown in genohsa that we’ve seen plastered all over the books the last few weeks is incredibly powerful and gallery worthy. I’m curious though why he has a big old school thor hammer next to him. The tag line at the end of this issue is “Next: It gets worse. That I’m interested to see because things are pretty bad as it is. Distributed by Tubemogul.

  • Jeph Loeb was given a good project which he entirely destroyed with a mix of poor writing and executive decisions.

    Dont buy Ultimatum 4

  • It is Quesada that needs an ultimatum: stop publishing Loeb or be fired.

  • LOL! I'm thinking since they killed most the characters they're going to think of something to revive them. But I heard in the news that Marvel isn't going to revive any deceased characters be it hero, villain or side characters. Any clarification on this?

  • ultimate spiderman and x-men was brilliant uptill ultimatum.never cared about the ultimates or the fantastic 4 really but the x-men was easy to jump into without thinking i need to find the oldest ishus as i have no idea what the smeg is happening.but now i guess whenever if ever UCX-men begins it will be a devastated change and people will have no clue if just joining it what the smeg happened unless they go back and read the ultimatum that i missed cause i was un able to do anything but exams

  • ultimatum was crap... end of story. JL fucked it all up, killing off everyone that meant something...

  • in The Ultimates 3, Thor goes to a wall filled with different weapons made by ulrik the troll. he selects the old hammer to fight with. at the end of that series, Magneto raises Genosha out of the ground in the savage land. Thor tries to stop him but magneto sends him flying, dropping the hammer on Genosha. Magneto simply picks it up. the same rules don't apply that only thor can use his weapons.

  • Im not a fan of Jeph Loeb's latest works, his old school run on batman(long halloween, dark victory, etc) were great,i loved them, but his latest works (on onslaught reborn(which i thought was corny and childish by the way)in addition to ultimatum) leave me asking the question:"What happened Jeph?"...maybe it was the shortness of the book,it seemed like alot was packed into a short five-issue series, magneto reversing the magnetic poles accured in(not two pages)but two panels for goodness sakes...

  • the ultimate universe sucked first of all this made it better.

    1. it showed what would happen if the bad guys pushed the heros to the edge.

    2. it was fun because no one was save.

    3. time for a new spin off and bring back the white nick fury

  • Jeph Loeb truly defines the saying "How low the mighty have fallen." He thinks that gory scenes every other page will make a good comic. He took what the greats Brian Michael Bendis, Mark Millar and friends created and destroys it all.

  • The Ultimate line has become UNACESSABLE and officialy convoluted. Time to pull the plug.....oh wait thats what this series is.

What is the demographic that still buys the Ultimate line?

**the teenage demographic = short term low paying buyers

***The 20 somthing demographic= limited income semi longterm buyers.

****30-40 somthing Demographic==the bread & butter high income long term buyers

Really who is this line for anyway?
