This is going in the right direction, but with powered pods that go 100 mph, and that can go independent off the track. Wheels on top and bottom.

nope, they dont double in power. There will be almost the same air resistance forces acting from the surface area of the container BUT, if a fat guy is ahead of you and you want to go faster, you will have to push the extra weight of the fat guy. No matter how good of a sportsman you are, your legs are mostly only as strong as your weight and you will not be able to give the fat guy enough speed. The power doesnt double, and the weight can triple (depending on his size)
