I had the honor of writing all the music for this documentary film. "Barnstorming" is the true story of an unexpected friendship that developed between a farm family and two pilots who literally dropped out of the sky. Their friendship has created a new tradition out of an old one long gone: barnstorming. The soundtrack features the song "Fireflies" and 13 instrumentals for which I played acoustic guitar, ukulele, piano (keyboard), kalimba, chimes and broom (a good old hand made wood & straw one ; ). I hired a fantastic upright bassist, John Previti, banjo player Frank Cassell, and drummer/percussionist Chris Veatch to play on several of the 14 tunes. Electric guitarist Mark Williams provided great ambient tracks for the main theme. I have released the soundtrack on my label, Strange Garden Records and it's available, as are all my CDs, from my website, iTunes, CDBaby. You can also find it at www.barnstorming movie.com where you can purchase both the DVD of the film and the soundtrack separately or a combo pack at a discounted price. More about the film...
Barnstorming captures their annual gathering: the visceral exhilaration of flight, the anticipation of the barnstormers arrival, and celebration of the reunion. Shot in real time, and told in the participants' voices, the film immerses the viewer in the innocence of earlier times, the fleeting nature of childhood, and the joy of friendship. It is a testament to our ability to connect as human beings, no matter where we come from, or how we get there. (www.barnstormingmovie.com)

  • Remembered me Richard Bach's book... really would like to be there

  • Did I see a 1929 Pietenpol 2 seater, parasol wing design in the fly-by? I built the RC kit of the Pietenpol mfg by Dumas of Tucson, AZ. It looks so good I don't fly it.

  • Captures the experience to a T. Land as strangers and leave with new friends. It brings out the kid in everyone! Same for hot air balloons!
