For the life of me I cannot understand how anyone, particularly mothers, would be able to show any sympathy for this woman, after hearing how selfish she behaved towards her children. I realize Dan was a huge jerk (according to her), but does that mean that if we are treated poorly in life, we have the right to murder the person?? That seems to be the logic here.

Wait a minute here, I'm not defending what she did at all, all I am saying is Dan did indeed contribute to her mental state, he used his political power to make her worse than she already was. I mean you cheated on her and betrayed her, why go the extra mile? That's all I was saying about Dan. No he didn't deserve death.

@mark85la11: I understand divorce. My dad walked out on my mom when I was 8, after 18 yrs. She had no money and didn't work, and he told her one day he didn't love her and was gone the same day. She got no alimony and 300 bucks child support a month. She was devastated and angry of course. She drank and occasionally made snide comments about my dad, BUT, she had two small kids to take care of and love. She didn't focus ONLY on herself. Betty's treatment of her children was despicable.

Dan already ruined her life with the cheating and lying, why did he have to use his power and influence to make her life more of a hell than it was after that? Sounds like he really used psychological warfare against her. I don't think you understand what divorce does to people and how it affects them when they are betrayed by the one they love.

@mark85la11: I don't understand how anyone can have any sympathy for this woman after hearing that awful, devastating phone call between her and Danny, her 11 year old child. He is crying and begging her to stop, and she's as cold as ice, telling her young son that his dad was "fucking the secretary." It's just totally sick and completely in line with what a narcissist would do. She thought ONLY of herself.
