As of 1.0 our sugar cane farm broke :(
It used a sticky piston as a BUD to trigger a set of normal pistons to pop the sugar cane once one had grown to full height. The farm was then reset by the popping action of the sugar cane next to the BUD. This worked in 1.8.1 beta but no longer works in 1.0.
We investigated this bug and found that updates from the act of popping objects with a piston did not update the state of other pistons only. We also noticed this problem does exist in 1.8 beta if the BUD and the piston doing the popping are of the same type.
Using this concept it is possible to setup an array of pistons into an powered BUD state but are wired directly rather than using the quasiconnectivity method. As far as we are aware this is the first demonstration of this kind of BUD (we might be wrong). As of yet we have not come up with any useful applications, but has the potential of shrinking some BUD circuits.
Please lets us know if you can think of any uses.
