In this tutorial, I show you how to use the Color Replace tool to modify and change the colors in your image.

Note: Use the tolerance to help capture more or less color. By tweaking the tolerance up, you'll capture more color but you'll have to be more careful in your color replacement. On the other hand, if you lower the tolerance, you have more buffer but you might not capture all the color you want.

  • what about if you want the color to be white? can it do that?

  • @YoUrMicroCosm The only way I was able to achieve the color close to what I wanted, was to color the picture gold and the desaturate it using the adjustment tab. But I know there must be an easier and truer way.

  • @YoUrMicroCosm For example, I wanted a silvery color and wasn't having any success. I resorted to typing ccccccc (the code for perfect grey) in the color code # box, but the result was red. Can you help me? I know there must be a way to use white, black, and grey on their own.

  • @d3eusebio I'm having the same problem. It's kinda hard to explain if you're not too much of a techie, but let me try: Basically, when choosing your color, there is no choice for pure black, white or grey as you would find in a normal paint program. Those colors can be used to adjust the rainbow, but they themselves do not seem to be included on the color wheel.

  • Nice instructions.......how would you make the backgorund transparent?

  • Can this tool be used to convert grayscale images into color? In other words, if Buzz's vest was gray instead of green would you still have been able to change it to red (or coral or whatever that color is)?

  • dude u sound like that guy red mist from kick-a**

  • I try to change something from white or black, and it doesn't work. Is there any way that I can fix that?

  • Mine doesn't work when changing something from lighter colors. Why is that?

  • @d3eusebio How long do you need to hold the brush down for it to start painting over ONLY the part

like in you friends blue shirt how long does it take for the computer to now it should only paint over the blue?

cause when i do it sometimes it paints over the whole thing -.-
