On Wednesday, October 29, 2008, Governor Sanford testified in front of the US House Ways and Means Committee - advocating for more fiscal restraint at the federal and state levels, and arguing that the proposed second stimulus package that expands government is not the best route to economic recovery.

    Typical liberal conversation....when they know that you have facts to back up your claim...all they can do is try to grandstand, interrupt, and get off subject and if that does not work...they yell and run.

  • Charles Rangel needs to shut his mouth and allow Governor Sanford to answer the questions. Rangel is one of the main reasons deficits are growing by supporting these bailouts and socalled"stimulus" packages. It's gonna stimulate a lot of people to do a whole lot of nothing. Liberals love to act as if they're for the little guy, but in fact the evidence shows more and more that they believe in enslaving the little guy. When you depend on big government, you are a slave. Period !

  • Because it's a Catch 22. If he says no, then he's an isolationist and a segregationist hypocrite for taking federal money for those items, but if he says yes, then there isn't a problem for him to accept the new "stimulus" package. Rangel wouldn't let him answer because Sanford wouldn't fall for the trap.

  • There goes Rangel up to his political hackery again. It's obvious that he was trying to paint the governor as a do nothing hapless conservative. The Governor should have said "While I'm usually very happy to share my philosophical beliefs with regard to the role of government...my understanding is that we are here to discuss "Economic Recovery Options" and I would like to put forth empirical arguments that suggest further federal involvement,
