aaah , macho posturing, my area of expertise and a fountain of good laughs.
-
@zerokomma Understandably so, since one knows those two so well and since they can't shed all of that, of course. On the other hand, some basics of macho posturing are probably understood even by Gorillas in the jungle.

when he lit that cigarette i started to register that they are Russians...my frame of mind was that i was going to watch some Brits doing the stiff upper lip routine lol.
-
@zerokomma The cocky way he smokes that cigarette is already provocation. Exquisitely observed cultural and character detail, as usual.
-
exactly yes...that attitude cant get unpunished for long. Good point lol.
-
@zerokomma You think that's how he got his chipped tooth? :-)

I would smash Eds face in with a karate-kick after he says ''the 6th Infantry division'' Pompous ass..... he probably does acting as a kind of psychotherapy, eh?
Very fine actor though....very fine. Denholm is awesome too

@novascot60 Same here! It's become one of my very favorite Edward Fox performances. Eg how he says "I'm a rat catcher" is priceless. Russian (not accent here, but the occasional names and words) suits him very well (reportedly, he was very good at actually learning some phonetically for his stage role in THE INTERPRETERS with Maggie Smith). I recently read that he and Elliott were very good friends.
''...kept your head down so far down there were plenty of influential boots in reach of your tongue'' lol...great line.

@zerokomma Lots of great ones: "Mother of God, the Red Army! Requisition, rape, or just passing through?" But my favorite is: "I'm a rat catcher." "Russian rats?" "I'm an internationalist."
