For the GC, I still need the Nintendo thing (which costs money) to get online, right?
P.S. On the online servers, would I still beable to use the people I use for offline? Would it be new people? Are there any chance they can get deleted?

The same char can be used offline and online
There is a chance they can get corrupted, but again that can also happen offline.

I don't want to check any servers.
When I click "online" on the GC version (which I have, and will never use anything else) it says I need a Nintendo Adapter to get online.
I don't think you can bypass that. ;)
