Glen Beck is toting out initiatives from the late 90's and early 00's that were passed in an effort to ease poverty in, as he puts it, "very very low income" areas, and then claims that these are proof that all democrats from Clinton to Frank are idiotic for supporting them because they involved the subprime market. What he neglects to mention is that ALMOST EVERYONE thought that market was a safe bet in the 90's! Comparing subprime market support then and now is misleading and slanderous.

Beck once again hits it on the mark. The Clinton administration, and the then Republican congress (1993-1996) totally dropped the ball on that one. Encouraging people to give large bonuses (because businesses would get tax deductions) and essentially forcing then-new regulations on the mortgage industry to finance uncredit-worthy people (sub-prime) is what got us into this mess. Bush just exacerbated the issue. Funny money gives the false impression of a good economy that can last for years.

Bush and McCain actually tried to stop Freddie and Fanny from loaning so much - and they tried several times. Dems stopped the bills each time.

If liberalism is a mental disorder, then conservativism would be an 80 pound fecal impaction.
