Rarely seen, the moments of preparation a bull rider makes before an 8 second ride. Shot on location at the Lee Civic Center, Fort Myers, Florida during Bull Bash 2009 for the Southern States Bull Riders, sponsored by Diamond W Rodeos.

  • I have watched several of these types of videos. It is actually nice to see a rider that doesn't rake the bull with spurs or have people shock the bull to get more "excitement" out of the bull. I don't totally agree with your sport. But it is truely a welcome relief to see this verses most the crap I see.

  • Thank you for the fine compliment! The SSBR ensures sportsmanship. The owners of the bulls have people right there on the chute, too. I'm just the cameraman. The pros that ride these bulls truly have my respect - as do the bulls and the SSBR officials. Climbing up on the chutes to film this sport is challenging and physical. I love my job, and appreciate how the riders, officials, handlers, and owners create space for me to get up there with them - so you can see what its like.

  • You got that right! Professional bull riders are not only courageous, they are tremendously skilled athletes with amazing reflexes. Bull riders have an intense focus on what they are doing, and what they are about to do. Every ride brings new risks and opportunity. Operating my camera up there with them is an incredible experience. Its an intense place to spend a Saturday night!

  • @WarCowboy Now, you're the kind of rider I have lots of respect for.

  • @MrThor221 I don't understand why some people like to kick, smack and spit on the bulls loading up. It never made since to me. I always am happy to set down on the bulls early so long as they are quiet in the chutes, I will rub on em and talk to em before I take my pull. I think they are beautiful beast which gets my respect automatically. I never want any harm toward the animal, just want to go along for the ride and enjoy the moment.

  • Yee-haw! Brave-ass mofos ain't they?
