lol mate "serves me right" i knew from the beginning he was going to blitz me because we had a play on the a34 before the lights, it was just a laugh.

My car is a 100% bog standard 1.4 16v, what would be the point in putting a loud exhaust on a 1.4, just makes you look like a tit.

Can you tell me more about the motor the beetle has in it? Do you know the guy?

Its a about Power to Weight, Plus people have been street and drag racing these bugs since the early 60's so have had a lot of time to develop the rite stuff, i.e perfromance mods, suspension set ups etc, plus Bug's just kick ass and thats the way it works =)

Both VW and Honda are loud... But the beetle is the only one of the two that can bite as hard as it barks.. Moral of the story: Don't rice a honda because, it will either sound like a vaccum cleaner, or a weed wacker and either way they are going to be slow.

@Xerxes371 I know this comment is like MAJOR late but, their horsepower is low because their designed redline is under the formula to calculate it.

Torque X RPM / 5252 = Horsepower.

For the most part, stock engines top out around 4500-5000RPM. The valve springs will start to float and will cause either loss of power or engine damage. So in order to get more horsepower you need to get more RPM's.

But like it's been said before, it's their power to weight ratio that makes them fly like that.

This has always been one of my fav vids. Great to see one of the bugs from the SASRennwagens guys in action. Is this footage along the A34 somewhere near Newcastle. I was trying to see if I recognised any of it.
