My personal best choice is the Beethoven's 9th played by less known conductor HANS-SCHMIDT ISSERSTEDT with Wien Philharmoniker, an old recording from the 1960's. If any one of you here is fussy about Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, I strongly recommend you this ULTIMATE VERSION OF THE 9TH on Decca label. In the mean time, this Fricsay's version is excellent too, possessing masculine structure and perhaps a bit more pronounced brass here & there. Fricsay is good.
Is it really that old? I mean it sounds pretty new, I mean I know machines can restore it, but like..all of Toscanini's recordings sound so old, and this one doesn't..it's weird. Well whatever, thanks anyway.

This is i guess, the first stereo recording by Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft and one of the nicest of the world.

A charming and very faithful (to Beethoven's marks) version of the 9th. Thanks for posting.
