This isn't the original cover. Matter of fact, basie isn't even on the record. It's the Basie band, but everyone but Basie is on it.
Eric Dolphy shows up for two cuts on the original LP.
It looks like there was a contractual problem, or Basie was ill for this one. The original is on Decca

Have to agree about the cover - the quotation marks add nothing to the project. Make Mr Davis bigger! (lol)
Seriously, there were were no Apple Macs in those days, nor Photoshop to retouch the image.
But with the talent contained inside the record sleeve, I forgive the dodgy typography (smile)

Liked the recording alot! But they sure didn't seem to put much of an effort into the album cover did they? Hahaha.
