The railway is likely to increase Chinese immigration to Tibet, where Tibetans are already outnumbered by Chinese.

No single author, two of the key personalities in 20th century China! Moreover, I was born in Tibet. I have direct experience! You assumption that I do not can only be described as imperialistic!

Never believe in one single author, be there and ask the people what they thinnk. If all your experience came from a book , please don't even talk about the problem.

Take the train if you don't have much time. But it'd be a lot more fun driving from Xi'ning to Lhasa or you can hire a car with a driver.

If you read Sun Yatsen and Qiang Kaishek's ideas about the relationships between Tibetans and other (now-so-called minorities), Han Chinese and the Chinese state, you will be left with no doubt as to their plans in Tibet, Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia.

The railway is a tool of Chinese oppression and cultural genocide in Tibet. Does the Dalai Lama support this? Of course not. He is between a rock and hard place and is doing his best to keep his nation alive even if this means trying to reach some of kind of compromise with the invaders of his land.
