Carlos Triunfel charges a grounder during infield practice before a 2007 California League game. Triunfel was signed by the Seattle Mariners out of the Dominican Republic for $1.3 million during the summer of 2006. The shortstop hit .309 for the low Single-A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers of the Midwest League in 2007. He was promoted to the high Single-A California League at midseason and hit .288 as a 17-year old with High Desert. Trifunel was the youngest player in the California League during the 2007 campaign and in High Desert Mavericks history.
It sux that he broke his leg and gained weight over the offseason. I was looking for him to be up here at least part of the season. Guess Figgins will have to play third, unless Beltre comes back at a discount for this season.
