being an indian i always been in awe of this nation ..even though i had my prejudices. I had always admired Putin . I mean i remmber the Russia during Yelstin's time. The poverty , collapse crime [i was barely 12 yrs old , but i used to watch BBC even then] . Then all of a sudden this "former KGB guy" appeared & the way he turned Russia around, is for all to see

@mihir1310 It's hard to deal with russia from european point of view... they just don't share same values. Russia uses politics of hammer, constantly trying to sign one-sided deals and get the best of you. Only way to deal with Russia properly would be by using same kind of politics - sincere and straightfoward on one side, but also agressive promotion of your own interests. So if Russia does something to you, don't talk, just do the same to them.

perhaps the trust between east and west should stop being a masquerade ball. instead maybe russia could admit that it is facing serious social issues, and may need assistance. and the west could use some of its wealth to assist. perhaps then the two tribes would gain a new understanding. then again, american and western capitalism is just as corrupt as russia. the only difference is that russia doesnt hide behind the pretence of rules and laws governing raw capitalism

300000 russians are expected to contract aids in the next 15-20 years. russia is barely spending on healthcare. teen drug and alcohol addiction is increasing alarmingly. as is homelessness this doco does not even touch russias poverty issues. putin did stop some regional elections, but that was because many were unfairly set-up by oligarchs who grabbed wealth during the fall of the union. russian chechyn occupation is also a tragedy. the west should oppose that politically, but not fear russia
