For fifteen years, people have relied on Democracy Now! to tell the truth about what's happening in the world. Today, I'm asking for your support of independent media to make this vital coverage possible.

If you haven't had a chance to donate yet, click here to make your year-end contribution today: https://www.democracynow.org/donate/ye-20111213-ytb

From Tahrir Square to occupied Wall Street; from the front lines of death row prisons to the COP17 Climate Change Summit in Durban; you can be sure that this coverage isn't paid for by the weapons manufacturers, the health insurance industry, big pharma, or the oil, gas, and coal companies.

Please click here to support Democracy Now! today so that we can continue to bring you independent breaking news coverage from around the globe: https://www.democracynow.org/donate/ye-20111213-ytb

Democracy Now!'s Mike Burke and Nicole Salazar were on the ground in Wisconsin where more than 100,000 public employees occupied the State House. And we've continued to follow the uprisings across the globe, with Democracy Now! reporters in the heart of Occupy Wall Street, Occupy Oakland, Cairo, Libya and more.

Democracy Now! goes to where the silence is. Your support today allows us to bring you news that's hard on the heart but so important to see. On September 21st, Troy Davis was scheduled to die. The Democracy Now! team was reporting live from Jackson, Georgia, awaiting news about whether the Supreme Court would spare his life.

For six hours, Democracy Now! was the only national news program reporting continuously on the rounds of the death row prison, bringing the world in to bear witness to the execution of a man whose criminal conviction was mired in doubt.

Democracy Now! is YOUR daily global news hour. Today we need your support: https://www.democracynow.org/donate/ye-20111213-ytb

Right now, we face a critical moment in media, and defending free speech, the cornerstone of our democracy, is more important than ever.

In the 2012 elections, undisclosed money raised in unlimited sums from corporations will mean that candidates can buy all the media that they can get their hands on. And with the corporate-owned media for sale to the highest bidder, the need for independent news has never been this urgent.

As you know, Democracy Now! is fundamentally different from commercial media. We don't take money from corporate advertisers. We rely on donations from our global audience —- people like you -—- to maintain our editorial independence.

Your support today can help shape the future of independent media.

Your generous donations help expand the largest public media collaboration in the U.S. From the greenest studio in the country, Democracy Now! is broadcasting on more than 1,000 public television and radio stations, and to a rapidly growing online audience around the world.

Our internships and fellowships are training a new generation of independent journalists, and our education program is engaging classes of high school and college students from around the world.

We are proud of how far we have come with your support. As we move into this critical election year as your daily, independent, global news hour, I hope that you will join us in achieving so much more.

By supporting Democracy Now! today with your tax-deductible contribution, you become part of the independent media movement, building a strong future for true investigative journalism.

You can donate by mailing us a check, calling us our toll free number, or pledging online: https://www.democracynow.org/donate/ye-20111213-ytb

  • @The911watch

"Noam Chomsky on Ron Paul's 9 11 Theories What He Said Is Completely Uncontroversial"

on DN, uploaded on my channel GeneratorJun among other insights about Nine Eleven. YOU are right, not giving money to gatekeepers, thus as far as Amy Goodman and her team are concerned, i salute excellent journalism here among others, of course, very rare these days. Wishing a most promising 2012, Lisa

  • @danbeauset To talk about such a subject and tell people "this was an inside job" is not easy i think. I don't know what they really feel about it, but i've said that to many us citizens, "this was an inside job, scientists have proven it". The outcome was hatred, laughs ("conspiracist cunt") etc. How could you tell to anyone "your loved ones died because the usa is a greedy country and doesn't give a fuck about them"?

  • @danbeauset I think they need an escuse, "there are big bad arab terrorist there, and they are responsible for what happened. Not the country, governement, multi nationals, banks i love." You see what i mean?

  • why would Diane Sawyer need money??? Haitian radio? I'll put a check in the mail, when i muster the courage to go outside again. After X'ed out for Xmass 2011

  • After saying that people against religion are ignorant, I'll think twice. Amy, all religions are intolerant. They all bring hate on earth and violence. There is nothing respectable about these stupid myths.

  • I consider it if DN didn't keep adding flat screens to there news room.

  • there's nothing wrong with advertising so long as advertisers don't control content.

  • I'll donate when D.N starts talking about the 9-11 inside job scandal. You can't talk about geopolitics unless you adress this problem.

Amy Goodman looks more like a gatekeeper then anything else when she doges this critical question. I haven't seen one interview of any of the 1600 architects and engineers from "AE911truth". RT has interviewed them, why hasn't Democracy Now? This is outrageous.

I'll never give money to these gatekeepers: watch?v=099BssyN_D4

  • Thanks for all you do DN and Amy :)

  • Done! got some mugs and a signed book as holiday gifts for my activist friends.

Thank you DN!!! your work is priceless and we still have a rebellious and newsworthy 2012 to cover!
