I don't know what happens with this shitty discution about the band, i'm atheist but i love Switchfoot music. Come on, if you really loves music, then you shouldn't have ideologycal limitation, if a song is good, you have to accept it, music isn't just lyrics and even thought i don't like the christian message they give in some of their songs, i love the instrumental part and that balance the board, and this song talks about live and the way we humans lose to ourselve it doesn't talk about "God"

@Landextrois This song is most definitely about God - it's about asking God to give us a second chance. It may be subtle, but I'd definitely say that it's about God.

Ya'll really have no clue about music. Music is like literature, yes the author has anintentional meaning in the song, but that does not make it anymore important than the meaning somebody may take away from that piece. Its all about what you as an individual take away from music,notnecessarily what the band meant when they wrote it.
