2008 Saturn Astra XR and K&N filter

I took a 3 " K&N Filter and removed the top portion of the factory airbox, and bolted on the filter. I left the bottom portion installed to allow for cooler air to reach the filter from the factory intake tube, but at the same time the filter is an open element which allows for air to go through it from all sides instead of from the factory's route. The sound from the intake can get pretty loud.

intake volume (sound) is louder, for some you can hear your rpms better. But, very little power increase mainly at on demand acceleration.

It's not limited at 106. I've gone over 100 before, downhill unfortunately. But, I would say about 120 is te governed limit.

yes. it is a factory exhaust. the sound is coming from the intake.

Actually the smallest engines are 1.3 diesel and 1.4 petrol.

in the UK we have a 1.9 diesel version, they wipe the 1.8 astras, with a tuning box my astra does 150mph and its a diesel! if your from america, search Vauxhall astra VXR or Vauxhall vectra VXR they do 160mph, 2.0 turbo Z20let engines. good luck importing one guys

Love this car, got my 2008 in the middle of the GM crysis for 15,000$.

NIce video. I have an XE but the same engine, and was thinking about doing the same thing. I was just wondering if the filter was specifically for the car or was it just a universal 3" K&N filter? I don't want any engine problems in the near future because of some filter, thanks.

About time I find a mod vid on an astra! lol are you having issues with your tires? I put new rims on them and my sensors suck ( the dealer can't even fix them)

@bigin260 Just search for Opel / Vauxhall Astra performance parts. Theres loads of them. You can even get a turbo kit for this engine, producing 250 bhp.
