NANAIMO - A new twist on crime fighting has emerged in the Harbour City with more and more people stepping in to stop crimes as they happen. Tuesday afternoon an employee at a sandwich shop in the Country Club Mall called out for help after her business was robbed a knife point. Just next door people eating lunch heard her cries, and one man jumped out of his seat and gave chase. Jerry Hong was taken on a daylight chase through a parking lot, across a busy street, and into a neighbouring homes backyard. The Nanaimo crime fighter tackled the masked robber and was punched in the face several times before two men came to his aid. Faced with three do-gooder Nanaimo men the robber gave up and was picked up by RCMP.
Mounties are commending the brave actions of the three , but say what they did is very dangerous and not something they recommend.
