Part-1: D. Balakrishna is the son of the legendary Mysore V. Doraiswami Iyengar. This video is an excellent example of the mysore style of playing.

Again thanks to Sangeethapriya member, Shri Ramasundaram for being the source of this Video

  • My former guru :)

  • This makes me think of my father, and the life he knew... Somethings have changed so much, others have stayed the same.

  • such nice....vaalgeh vainikas

  • sorry to comment but i think veena is more audible than sitar

  • Very nice. Without special audio effects of any kind. What really stands out is the purity of the srutis. Would be nice to see videos of his father Doreswamy Iyengar too: the greatest ever in my opinion; a gifted musician and a great person.

  • The Mysore school of playing the veena is unique and perhaps the most graceful, simple and conveys the essence of music. Veena at its purest. The recording of Doraiswamy Iyengar playing Abheri at the music academy in 1984 (year he won the SK) is pure magic! -oh and R.K.Suryanarayana what an artist. Ideas in playing ragas that I never thought possible!

  • Beautiful. One of your admirers in NY.

  • Nice video..
