Robert F. Kennedy Jr. tells Congressman Steve King that hog producers are a greater threat to the United States and U.S. democracy than Osama bin Laden in a February 4, 2009 House Judiciary Committee hearing.
What part of " Hog farmers take good care of their livestock because it means more profit in the end" do you not understand?
I presume you are against starvation? Then how about you keep you're pie hole shut and let our farmers do what they do better than any other country and feed the world.
I think he has a right to be a little hot under the collar. I disagree that he has no credentials for saying what he is saying. Please listen to the explanation as well as the statement. When you do you will realize he is right.
BTW: The heroin possession, the last time I checked, once we pay for our mistakes, we are not held responsible. This also happened in 1983, that was a long time ago. There are other things involved in all of this that I would not expect Kennedy haters to understand.
Not only is he crazy but it's insane they'd let a guy - busted on an airplane for possesion of heroin no less(!)--that they'd actually give him time to speak and listen to what he says. His only so called " asset" is his last name. You really think they'd listen to somebody named Robert Jones, et. al.? Most of the Kennedys-in particular Ethel and Bobby's kids have no civility, no manners and think the laws don't apply to THEM.
The government don't care if you are a liberal or republican. And while you are busy blaming each other for the messes they created they are zipping up your body bags! its time to wake the hell up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe the big farmers, and the waste from these farms is polluting land, rivers, ocean. Small farms with free range shouldn't be treated the same way.
It's obvious you realy don't know what your talking about.
Theres more hogs in my state than humans and you don't hardly even see the hogs. Hog farmers take good care of their livestock because it means more profit in the end.
If there was such a problem, let the states handle it, we don't need someone from the beltway telling us how to farm.
Ask the majority of the people from Iowa, and hog farming won't even be mentioned with what they are concerned with.
How can you call industrially raised pigs "quality food"? they're raised in horrible conditions, stressed beyond endurance-kept alive due to daily medication. Industrial farms pollute the water, the air, and the minds and hearts of those who work within their confines.
This is why people such as this lawyer, people who have heart and care about water and air, need to speak up against destructive practices such as those of industrial farms making money for shareholders.
Why is this silver spoonfed lawyer type telling Iowa farmers how to farm?
I have lived around RR Iowa my entire life and never had any complaints about the hog farmers.
People just need to grow up and be happy that they have such a vast selection of quality foods readily available at their fingertips. Provided to them by the blood sweat and tears of the American farmer.
