This is a great song! How happy I am that I am able to listen to Vern Gosdin's music even after his death! I hope that such music will be there for the younger generation.

If the grief in this song doesn't rip your heart apart, check to see if it's beating. Can't remember the first time I heard this - could it be 15 years ago? - and I still feel the pain of these words every time I give it another listen. Great song, great singer. Thanks for sharing.

Vern Gosden IS true country music and always will be...he had a simple heartfelt and to the point delivery that made his music so distinguishable from anybody else...he is a country legend and deserves the spot he obtained as a country music pioneer..."agreed" @ syphon19731...Im only 33 but I listened to this music and others like him all my life...I listen to rock, country even rap and alot more, Im a very musically diverse person and this is STILL always welcome in my playlists...

Hi Ruttenfan,
Now,because you addressed me by by 'internet name'...caught my attention... I am going to be totally honest with you and say that I had never heard of Vern until a year or so ago. I am an 'Aussie' (Downunder). I am a Musician,playing clubs etc................and not what you would class as a 'Country Fan'.However, I am fast changing my taste.
