Indian Railways: Delhi-Agra

Ride on the Bhopal Shatabdi Express doing 150 kph from Delhi to Agra in the early morning. You can see the 3rd track being laid and the catenary masts being erected. Other parts the ballast has already been stored for the new track.
I was travelling in AC Chair Car, having 3+2 seats in a row.

not freight corridor , because freight corridor will be separately laid and its not in delhi agra section.

-> delhi - bombay(dadri-JLN port) will be though rewari, ajmer etc.

and this 3rd rail is due to the huge amount of traffic as you can see that train are increrased in almost every rail budget and this section is sharing two main lines(trunk lines):

1. delhi munbai via kota

2. delhi to south(bangalore, chennai, secundrabad, nagpur etc)

Why is the new (3rd track) being laid? For goods or shunting or sidings?

@bhushan80 Hopefully someone will give the right answer. It is definitely not for shuting as I saw it between stations for many 10 miles.

@csongorvarga delhi - ghaziabad section is facing the same problem of sharing more than one main lines as in delhi matura section
