Thats complete rubbish - Magpies eat the eggs and young of other, mostly , songbirds as a food source - its got nothing to do with threat
That is a newly fledged blackbird being killed to eat , and the parent birds are mobbing the magpie to try to save their offspring.

Looks like it could have been a newly fledged Blackbird,i have seen what Magpies do to the caught bird,they peck there eyes out first to disable them,and then barely eat anything other than what they can get out of the chest caverty.Cruel nature.

i love how the description describes the prey as a victim..in nature there are not victims, only predator and prey.

I have seen a Magpie snatch a Sparrow from my bird table and literally swallow it whole. All over in the blink of an eye. They climb though all the hedges and trees looking for nests and literally gobble all the young birds they find in the nests too.
