Longtime Dolly fan, but I wasn't expecting to like this, since I so identified the song with John Leonnon, but she actually did a nice job honoring what John had originally written about (as did the people who made the video). Apparently Yoko liked it too, as I remember reading some very nice comments she made about Dolly's version, saying that John would have appreciated it. The footage of John and Yoko in this video always bring tears to my eyes.

I've always thought that this is the most beautiful and heartfelt pop song. People could do a lot worse than this by taking it into their soul, making it a personal manifesto. Lennon's original can't be topped, but Dolly Parton has nothing to be ashamed of by covering it.
