Looks like a different style, sloppily applied to C,M,C, 37. Knee over-extended, stepping stiff and committed, starts and stops, no shape, head disjointed from body, mind in next move--not in ending of present move, arm stiff in separate-foot moves, and done too fast for his skill level.

Oh dear!!! Never seen it done like this? It's good you get something from it... I suggest you look for a New Teacher or at least look at CMC himself here on YouTube and maybe you can see your differences? Only a suggestion.

The only person to be blamed here is this man's teacher if this is how he was taught. The motions here are similar to the 37 form, but if he wants to learn it the correct way, all he has learned up to now is a waste and will need to re-train himself to correct his 3rd eye postures and waste movement.

@chimab Maybe I don't know Tai Chi but neither does that dude. As far as "so called" meditative value, I don't think Tai Chi focuses on producing speed so much as balance and peace.

@Swirlydervish Then you don't know Tai Chi. The power which generates speed comes from relaxation and your so called meditative value. This video is not a good example of which I speak. It's too disjointed.

Yeah, It does seem a bit dancy. I don't see the meditative value in the speed.

Nice backdrop & good on you for trying - but this is not Tai Chi as I understand it. Find yourself a good instructor & develope your movement. It's worth the effort. Good luck.

This is not Taichi

It's easy to criticise someone else's efforts rather than put your money where your mouth is but I have to honestly say that I saw no intent only movement. Tai chi is empty without intent be it 38, 37 or just one move. However, if you're enjoying what you do then what does it matter? Nice backdrop.
fengpo, I made the video several years ago. Tai Chi practice evolves. Cheng Man Ching himself performed his form in various ways, as my instructor frequently points out to us students after reviewing You Tube videos of Cheng Man Ching. Even though my form looks better now, the basic style hasn't changed. "True" Tai Chi looks different from "dance" or "energy" Tai Chi. It can look "ugly," meaning practical. Tai Chi truly is a martial art, but many practitioners don't know the martial side.
