  • Jean Paul Marat (1743-93} Born Neuchatel, travelled to Britain, and obtained degree @StAndrews, supported Wilkes, became a journalist, "L'Ami du People", a searing denunciation of authority, called for a dictatorship of the people. In the name of the people! September 1792, member of the vigilance committee, & responsible for Paris prisons, A Jabobin, in conflict with Girondins. 13 July 1793, murdered, by Charlote Corday, 25 yrs old aristocrat, royalist, viva Marat! Long live marat!

  • Brilliant film, long live the revolution!

  • These are the men who owned everything and everyone, look at them now; where are they now? Daily they offer their heads, to the guillotine, to save them from interminable, boredom

  • Really dig the tomatoe soup bit.

  • Although I was 17 in 1966 never got to see the original live performance, just remember seeing this film, a few times. However I made a large painting in 1975, of an execution, inspired by this movie.
