Combat Baguazhang for Police
Fire Palm Strike and Throw

PKC™ is the name of a close quarter combat system taught through the American Rangers Martial Law Enforcement Training Center (ARMLETI) to law enforcement, corrections officers and body guards. Over 30,000 officers have been introduced to PKC methods that range from hand to hand tactics, edge weapon tactics as well as the use of firearms, rifles, machine guns and more.

These methods are based upon the Li family Jiulong Baguazhang concepts as taught and used by Li. Long-dao and his father Li, Zhang Lai who worked as bodyguards (Baobiao 保鏢) in Sichuan province China and later as combat trainers for the army of Chiang Kai-shek (蔣介石 / 蔣中正).

John P. Painter the instructor in these clips holds the rank of Captain in the ARMLETI trainers program. He is also the author of two best selling books titled Combat Baguazhang The Nine Dragon System Volume 1 & 2 and a six DVD series titled, Nine Dragon Baguazhang for Street Combat from Beckett Media productions.

These video clips were filmed in 1993 for a production presenting PKC to the law enforcement community. These tactics were originally taught and sold only to LEO trainers will soon be re-mastered and available as a DVD set for the general public.

  • Hello i am a hapkido practitioner, and it seems like the felllow in the red is not really having any control of your arm in the first place. could this technique work if he had brought your elbow up past the shoulder. Also what if he has your wrist locked as well. Thank you

  • @iidankk Dear Sir if you watch closely you will see that the tactic begins the moment he grabs the arm so there is no time for him to go fully into the lock. However if he did the method will work the same. As far as a wrist lock goes, well very, very few people can actually apply wrist locks at full speed and if they do there are ways to flow out of them also. Thank you for your comments.

  • Dear Elnshaw, Thank you for the comment. No this will not happen due to the way the tactic moves. I have offerd a reward of $1,000.00 to any officer who can take my side arm at any time during our ARMLETI instruction course that is on and off the mat. I still have the money after 30 Years! John Painter

  • I wish I had the balls to pull off a moustache like that!

Nice movements though, I'd like to study Bagua but I don't think my back could take the twists!

  • @simozonelayer Sir, The back will not be damaged by correct practice. When moving against a resistance the Yao or Chinese word for waist that really means torso moves as one unit. This means that shoulders and hips move with the core during applications so the spine is never twisted. That is at least in the Nine Dragon Bagua System of which PKC is a part

  • @thegompa What DVD is this from ?

  • :20 dammit painter i like to use that lock. now i have to come up with a counter

  • Good stuff; thanks for posting.

  • My only concern is that with your arm behind your back like that if they realized what was happening they could put you in a hammer lock, and then use that to transfer into an effective wrist or arm lock similar to the ones in Jujutsu, Aikido, Chin Na, and Hapkido.

  • respectable kung fu. good video

  • I prefer wing chun for self defence and such but bagua is inturesting

  • Great! I bought some books (journals) from the states and have seen your awesome skills!
